2014 Year In Review
Wow! Just like that, 2014 is over. And we’re about to enter the 2nd quarter of 2015. Time flies when you’re having fun!
How was your 2014? I hope you had a wonderful year. Facebook has its way of summarising our 2014 based from our posts. Have you tried that feature yet? It’s cool. Try it 🙂
Today, I’d like to take this opportunity to count the blessings God has given me in 2014. Since I’m a blogger and you are very much part of this SeminarPhilippines community, I would like to share these milestones and blessings with you.
Here they are, in no particular order.
1. Write Conversations Publishing and Consultancy
I’ve always wanted to put up my own company. Finally, it’s now a reality. This tiny, startup company publishes my books and produces my talks and seminars.

I am also part of a training and consultancy company called Institute for Integrality, Inc. After a number of reorganisations and meetings, we’ve finally come up with a setup that made everyone in the organisation happy. After two years, we also finally moved to our physical office.
2. Money & Me
On January 25, 2014, I published my latest book Money & Me: 9 Steps to Turn Around Your Finances and Live the Life You Want.
For the first time, I brought my books to National Book Store and Fully Booked.

For the first time, I also joined the Manila International Book Fair. I signed the books together with other Shepherd’s Voice Publications authors and Bro. Bo Sanchez himself.

3. Writer at Bo Sanchez’s Truly Rich Club
Every month, I contribute three articles for Bo Sanchez’s Truly Rich Club newsletters. Every month, I interview a self-employed individual and feature him/her in Truly Rich Club Wealth Strategies. Each month, I also interview a successful entrepreneur and feature him/her in Truly Rich Club Entrepreneurs’ Circle. For the past three months, I’ve also been interviewing Truly Rich Club members on how their lives were changed because of Truly Rich Club. I love my job!
I love learning from the different people I interview each month and I feel privileged to help them get their message across through the interview features. And the greater reward? I get to work with Bro. Bo Sanchez. I observed how efficient he is. The more I get to work with him, the more I admire his kindness and humility and work ethic.
4. Seminars
For the past year, my friends and I have organised inspirational seminars.
Power of Two seminar with Jhet van Ruyven
(January 25, 2014)
Money & Me seminar with Dr. Larry Gamboa
and Mr. Edward Lee
(June 7, 2014)

5. Full-time #Passionista.
Last August 5, 2014, I celebrated my first anniversary as a full-time #Passionista.

Thank God for the opportunity to go back to the company I worked for, to give a talk on Money Management. I think that’s one of the best ways to celebrate my anniversary – to serve my former company using my passions.

4. First Time to Charge for My Talks
Believe it or not. I’ve been giving talks since 2011 but I’ve given those talks for free.
I’m all for giving value. I didn’t charge for my talks in the past because of two reasons:
- One, Bo Sanchez would always say, “Serve first, money will follow.” I wanted to test if what he said was true. And so I gave my talks for free because I wanted to serve first.
- Two, I wanted to test myself whether giving talks is a passion and whether I would still do it with or without compensation. I realised, it is indeed a passion.
Bo Sanchez’s advice works! And yes! Giving talks is undoubtedly one of my many passions.
In 2014, I started to charge for my talks because of two reasons:
- One, I value my time and I believe in the value I could deliver through my talks.
- Two, I wanted to gauge if my audience and my clients value my time and my talk as well.
My Very First Paying Client
Thank You, Bayantel! 🙂

The first time a company asked for my professional fee for a one-hour talk, I was so nervous. I didn’t know how to price my talk. I sent my proposal letter anyway. And they agreed to my rate.
If you wish to invite me to give a talk to your company or organisation, you may contact me here.
5. Speaker in Different Universities in Manila
In 2014, I gave talks to the different universities and schools in Metro Manila.
Far Eastern University

I love to be with young people. They make me feel young, too!
Asian School of Hospitality and the Arts

Technological Institute of the Philippines

6. Speaker in Different Seminars and Events
Bro. Bo Sanchez’s Wealth Summit 2014 (March 2014)

5th Philippines International Literary Festival and Book Industry Summit
(Nov 2014)

The Feast GIG

7. Speaker at the Office of the President of the Philippines
It felt surreal to receive a letter of invitation from the Office of the President of the Philippines. Wow! It’s the highest office in the Philippines.

Three days after my talk in Malacang, I also gave a talk to about a hundred officers of Bureau of Immigration.

7. Money & Me seminars Outside Metro Manila
Travelled to Cebu and Baguio to give Money & Me seminars.
Thank you, Ecclesiastes for the invite. If you wish to invite me to speak in your cities or provinces, you may contact me HERE.

8. First-Ever International Speaking Engagement
Aug 24, 2014 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. On this day, I had my first-ever international speaking engagement. This experience will always be special because of the ff reasons:
First, I gave the talk right after I attended the 4-day#Toastmasters International Convention. Toastmasters International is instrumental to my growth as a person, an author, and a speaker.
Second, my first international audience is The Feast Malaysia. It’s such an honor to share and give back to the community (@TheFeastPICC) that nourishes me spiritually, emotionally, mentally, physically, and financially, too! The Feast as a whole, was founded by my mentor Bro. Bo Sanchez.

Third, the talk I gave, “How to Make Your Passion Your Profession” is something very close to my heart and integral to my life. God has blessed me with the opportunity to do what I love to do every single day because my passion is my profession. This is also something I’d like to share to as many people as possible.
9. Tried Different Interests
I’m more of a speaker than a host. But from time to time, I would take on the challenge of hosting events when necessary.
In the past, I also hosted the wedding receptions of my childhood friends upon their request. 🙂
Hosting

I co-hosted the Truly Rich Club’s first-ever Christmas party with John Ben Rodriguez.
Painting

I enrolled in a painting class for the very first time and this is my first official painting. Indeed, it’s never too late to pursue a passion.
Singing

Okay, the singing part is a bluff. The truth is, I am so passionate about singing but I’m tone deaf. I am still hopeful that someday, I could sing 🙂
Here’s a fact. I am part of a band called “The Acoustic Dreamers” which my friends, my brother, and I put up. For now, my sole contribution to the band is to invite them to sing in the seminars I organise.
Our Band: The Acoustic Dreamers

10. Toastmasters International Convention
For the past 90 years, the Toastmasters International Conventions were held in North America. In 2014, the said convention was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the very first time. So my friends and I didn’t let the opportunity pass us by.
On this day, all the toastmasters all over the world were asked to attend the Hall of Fame Awarding Ceremonies in their national costume. It’s not every day that I get to wear a Filipiniana. Hehe. #pagbigyanNaToday is one of the many days wherein you’d be so proud to be a Pinoy. Toastmasters Philippines was awarded the Presidents Distinguished District award, the highest award given to any toastmasters in a district or country level.
Playing around and sharing cultures with our new friends from West Africa during the break time. They’re so warm and friendly. Yay!!! Even when we’re all grown-ups, there’s always a child in us. Never let that sense of wonder wander.
First time to witness the World Championship of Public Speaking here in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Convention Center!
11. Toastmasters Speech Contests
I joined the Toastmasters Speech to Evaluate Contest. There were four rounds of competition — Club Level, Area Level, Division Level, and District (or National) Level.
The Champion in the club level will compete in the area level; the champion in the area level will compete in the division level; and the champion in the division level will compete in the District or National Level.
For the first time, I reached the District or National Level where I placed 2nd.
12. TV Guestings
ANC On the Money with Edric Mendoza

13. Lead Trainer for an initiative on #NationBuilding
Our company, Institute for Integrality, Inc. was tapped to give life skills training for Jobstart Philippines. This is a project in collaboration with Asian Development Bank, Canadian Government, DOLE, etc.
For 8 days, we gave life skills training to the youth of Quezon City so they will gain competence and confidence as they enter the workforce. I was assigned as a Lead Trainer for this project. It’s heartwarming to do what you love to do knowing that what you do contributes to nation building.

14. Travels
In 2014, I travelled to Clark, Dumaguete, Tagaytay, Laguna, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Thank God and thank you, too, for being part of my journey! 🙂
