Amazing what BELIEF can do!

Hope you are having a beautiful week so far.
Last Saturday, we had the Global Authors Summit at the GSIS Theater.
It was such a beautiful occasion. Were you there?
Today, I’d like to talk about what I discovered last Saturday during the event.
My simple message is this: Amazing what BELIEF can do.
Last Saturday, I did something I’ve never done before. I sang in public!
Just a bit of a background. Ever since I was young, I’ve always wanted to sing.
One of my dreams is to sing in a beautiful event and inspire people.
But every time I would sing, my family and friends would tease me and say,
“Sha, do us a favor. Don’t sing.”
I saw that as their way of loving me and speaking the truth into me.
Slowly, I started to believe them.
Then one day, one person heard me sing and he said,
“Sha, you have a beautiful voice. You were born to sing.”
That one person happened to be a really competent singing coach who
has coached some of the best singers in the country today.
It took just ONE PERSON to make me believe in my dream to sing again.
His name is Jerome. He even said that my voice is mezzo soprano.
The famous singers who are mezzo sopranos are Adele, Beyonce, Leah Salonga, etc.
Woah! Up to now, I don’t know what Jerome heard in my voice that made him say I have a beautiful voice.
But I chose to believe him.
So on that momentous day at The Global Authors Summit, I sang “I Can” and I sang from the heart.
Here’s what’s surprising. I sang with a tiny belief that I can do it.
I was banking on my coach’s belief in me.
I sang simply because my heart just really wanted to sing! 🙂
My coach even prophesied: “Sha, after you sing, believe me. You will get singing invitations.”
I almost fell off my chair.
After I sang, I got encouraging comments from the people who were there.
My friend Janice posted the video recording of my song on Facebook and here were some of the
heartwarming comments.
Indeed, my coach was right. Someone even invited me to sing in one of their events. Hehe!
(I am laughing now just because I don’t see yet how that is possible. But I just continue to let my coach speak to me).
I sent the recording to my coach and here’s what he said:

Amazing what BELIEF can do.
Belief is so powerful because it is deeply embedded in our subconscious mind and our subconscious mind runs 95% of the show.
I remember years ago when I used to be so shy and introverted. Bro. Bo Sanchez said, “Sha, can I invite you to speak in our event?”
He believed in me. I didn’t know what he saw in me but I believed in his belief in me.
Year after year, he kept inviting me to speak and share the stage with him and some of the best speakers in the country.
I kept saying YES because I was banking on his belief in me. Even if I only had a little bit of belief in myself then.
Slowly, his belief in me made me believe in myself.
That belief brought me to speak in so many stages in the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, India, U.S., Maldives, UAE, etc.
Believe in yourself.
If you don’t believe in yourself in a particular area yet, find someone who believes in you.
Find someone who will speak faith into you.
In terms of speaking, it was Bro. Bo Sanchez for me.
In terms of singing, it’s Jerome for me.
In terms of writing books, can I be that person for you?
I believed and I continue to believe in the students of The 90-Day Book Writing Challenge.
That’s why for them, it’s not a question of “Can I really write a book?”
It’ s a matter of “Yes, you can write a book! If you can write a sentence, then you can write a book.”
Then I teach them the formula for writing a book.

Believe in yourself.
Listen to someone who believes in you.
Don’t let anyone tell you that you cannot do what you want to do.
Even just a tiny belief can do wonders.
I sang last Saturday with a tiny belief that I can sing and I was already amazed at the impact it made on the people who heard me sing.
How much more when I believe in myself 100%. That day will come.
For now, I’ll continue letting my coach speak faith into me and I’ll continue to sing just because I love to sing! Haha!
Start with whatever belief you have.
Let it grow.
