Key Lessons from Rich Dad Asia
I attended the Rich Dad Asia Live in Asia 2011 last October 21, 2011 at Crowne Plaza Galleria. The seminar was organized by Learning Curve. Rich Dad Asia Mr. Bellum Tan was the main speaker while Jerome San facilitated the Cashflow 101 game.
Though I arrived at 3pm and the seminar started at 8:30am, I still was able to catch a few gems from it. By the time I arrived, the Cashflow 101 game was about to start.
Let me share with you some of the lessons I picked up from the seminar/workshop.

Key Lessons from Rich Dad Asia
1. Increase your Financial Quotient.
It means that it is important for us to know how to manage our resources, how to leverage, how to protect and multiply our money, and then how to make an exit strategy.
The exit strategy could apply to stocks investing. Not only should we observe the right timing in buying stocks, but we should also know when to sell our stocks. Otherwise, our gains would just be paper gains.

2. Learn how to celebrate.
It’s not all work. We should also learn how to celebrate our small successes to inspire us to succeed even more.

3. Play Cashflow 101 game.
Play it with friends and family over lunch or snacks. Cashflow 101 will help you raise your financial quotient. The more you play, the more you learn. Play with someone better than you.

4. Work with teams.
Rich people don’t work alone.

5. Buy the house that you are living in (rather than continuing to pay rent).
By the time that you hand it to your children, the value would have gone up.

6. Know the difference between speculating and investing.

7. Work to learn.
Rich Dad Asia Mr. Bellum Tan encouraged his son to learn about the economy. First, his son worked for a government institution. Then, he transformed to a financial institution. Afterwhich, he worked in the stock market. All these he did in order to have a better understanding about money, stocks, economy, etc.

8. It’s not about how. It’s about WHY.
If your why is big enough, then you will seek ways to answer the HOW.
