If There’s a Will, there’s a Way
Last week, I’ve had my first ever dance recital. Okay, it was not just a recital. It was a dance concert held at Star Theater in Pasay City.
What was so special about this dance concert? I was never a dancer.
I remember when I was still an employee. I joined a dance class sponsored by our company. Day 1, I was able to follow the steps. Day 2, I couldn’t follow the steps anymore. So I stopped attending the dance classes.
I had this mindset: I’m not a dancer. I can never dance.
Every time I would be invited to dance, I’d shy away from the invite. My belief was: I cannot dance. I’m just not a dancer.
Last April 20, 2015, I got out of my comfort zone! I joined Douglas Nierras’ Powerdance Summer Workshop. It was a leap of faith! I could have joined any other dance workshop but I chose to join the best! I have so much respect for Mr. Douglas Nierras and I wanted to learn from him.
The dance workshop started on April 20, 2015. We had our Dance Concert on May 21, 2015. In other words, we only had one month, or a total of 18 sessions to learn ballroom and hip hop. (I missed 5 sessions because I was in Palawan and Batangas, respectively, attending a toastmasters convention and giving talks).
All along, I’ve had that limiting belief that I can never dance. Mr. Douglas Nierras and his team of talented dancers believed otherwise. They believed their students can dance. They believed I can dance.
It was only two nights before the concert when I finally told myself, “Okay, I can dance!” Though my inner voice was telling me otherwise, I chose to listen to Mr. Douglas Nierras and his team.
On that momentous night of May 21, 2015, I danced 2 hip hop and 2 ballroom. I was sooooo happy!!! I felt so free! For me, that night was not just a dance concert. It was a milestone, because I conquered another limitation.
Do you have limiting beliefs as well? Are there things you wanted to do but you’ve always felt you were not good enough? You will never know what you are capable of doing unless you try. If there’s a will, there’s a way.
Let me show you some of the photos from the dance concert.
Have you always wanted to write a book but you felt you are not a writer and you can never write one?
I am telling you, You can write a book! As the cliche goes, “If there’s a will, there’s a way.”
Another thing I loved about Douglas Nierras’ Powerdance Summer Workshop was the Dance Concert! You see, there was a concrete evidence that after one month of workshop, we were able to dance and perform in a dance concert directed by no less than Mr. Douglas Nierras. How precious! 🙂
This is also something I’m excited about on June 6, 2015! There will be a seminar on “How to Write a Book” Plus a Book Launch! Who will launch books on June 6?
I will launch my latest book. But here’s the more exciting part! First-time authors who joined the 90-Day Book Writing Challenge last January 12, 2015 will launch their books, too! The book launch is a concrete manifestation that those who joined the 90-Day Book Writing Challenge were able to write their books. If they can, you can, too!
