Be Extra Kind to Yourself (Covid Edition)
Happy Holy Monday!:)
Hope you’re having a great day despite the current corona virus crisis we’re facing.
My email today is short and I only have one message: Be extra kind to yourself.
Maybe you are not as productive as you were prior to the corona virus crisis. That’s okay.
Maybe you’re anxious and worried about the future.
Maybe you’re feeling a little sad, or maybe you’re really sad.
Maybe you even feel like crying.
Maybe you feel disappointed.
Whatever it is you’re feeling, be extra kind and compassionate to yourself.
Cry if you feel like crying. Sit with your emotions. I did this last night and it was so uncomfortable and painful at first. Normally, I’d snap out and distract myself by watching a movie or talking to a friend or doing something else. But last night, I sat through my emotions. I honestly didn’t know why I was feeling what I was feeling. But I sat through the pain and discomfort. After probably two hours of crying, I felt so much better. I also had a breakthrough. I now understood what I’ve been trying to understand for years! I wouldn’t have reached that if I didn’t sit with my emotions and I didn’t feel my feelings.
Feel your emotions no matter how painful and uncomfortable they are. That maybe the child in you that is in pain and is afraid. Then speak to yourself as lovingly as you can. You can say something like,
“I love you, my love. We’ll get through this. I trust you. I believe in you. I’m here for you.”
Give yourself a hug.
You are doing the best you can.
You don’t need to figure everything out right now.
Celebrate your little milestones.
Celebrate the fact that you woke up and you’re still breathing.
Celebrate the fact that you took a bath today. (Did you? Hehe)
Celebrate the sun!
Celebrate how you’re becoming a better cook as each day goes by.
Celebrate how you love your family or how your family loves you.
Give yourself a little treat here and there.
Last Saturday, I treated myself to a Netflix movie.
Then yesterday, I bought the audio book of Margie Warrell’s You’ve Got This on Amazon.
I’m echoing Margie… You’ve got this!
Does my message today resonate with you? If yes, great!

I wish you love, joy, and peace today and everyday!
