While in college, Bill Gates became so passionate with computers that he quit Harvard. Whoa! How many of us are willing to leave our comfort zones just to pursue our passion?
So why am I associating Hanz with Bill Gates? Well, in 2010, Hanz made a bold decision. Just like Bill Gates who left Harvard, Hanz resigned from work to pursue his real interests! He exchanged the high position, the fat pay check and the perceived “stability” of earning salary on a regular basis to the uncertainties of the so-called “pursuing your passion.” Crazy? We’ll see. 🙂
I had the privilege of interviewing Hanz. Let’s get a glimpse of this guy’s amazing intellect and radical point of view.
Hanz: Just another ordinary boy from Cebu living an extraordinary life while reaching his extraordinary dreams!
How extraordinary? Well, I simply make money out of my passions. All my income streams come from things I love most – coaching and training, public speaking, writing, graphic arts and video productions, internet marketing, events, and even eating! (We own a packed lunch business!) And what even makes it more exciting is that every day, there’s always something different, something new – a challenge, a project, a learning, or an opportunity.
My extraordinary dreams? Inspire 10,000 lives by the age 30. And maybe 1,000,000 by 31?
At the end of my day, its always about, “Hanz, how many have you inspired today?”
“Which project can inspire more people?”
And even to my fb time, “Can this fb post make a difference to people’s lives?”
Why inspire people?
Aside from this is the only way to empower people and helping out our country (ehem!), it is more of my paying it forward to the universe of how blessed my life is by simply taking regular doses of inspiration and making massive action towards it.
Sha: What made you decide to resign from work?
Hanz: It all really started with the 90 Day Challenge.
It was mid last year, and I met my mentor, Kuya Tony. He created this mastermind group, and I was part of it, and he challenged each of us to earn 1 Million in 90 Days. What made it so unique was that when we would reach that 1 million, we should all give it away! Why? Because challenge was not about the money, it was about the experience – the learning, the coming out of ones wifi zone, seeking and grabbing opportunities. Besides, when you become a millionaire, earning back another million would just be too easy right?
I was still employed back then, a supervisor with over a hundred employees under me, and while in the challenge – it really opened my mind – and I simply asked this question –
“Is this job what I want to do for the rest of my life?”
Sha: What were your fears?
Hanz: Fears – yes, a lot! I was the “alleged” bread winner at that time. My parents both have no stable income at that time yet, and my sister was graduating. The “what ifs” were like bubblegum -kung mupilit makabuang! (When it sticks it drives you crazy!) But I cannot wait for the perfect time – the time when all is stable, everything ready – that is like waiting for the planets to align!
The fear was there, but hey, I was so excited!
Sha: What’s the best part of being unemployed, err, working for
yourself? Haha! What do you miss about being employed?
Hanz: The amazing monthly vacations!
The fun part is it really is fun! Being paid for doing what you love!
Like I said, everyday is a new day, and you can proudly say yes to great opportunities.
(However, lately I learned how to say “no” to opportunities but still earn from it!)
What do I miss being employed?
I miss my staff. Each and every one of them. They are my constant reminders that I can and I did make a difference in their lives.
Sha: What keeps you busy these days? What has replaced your active income/salary?
Hanz: A lot! I’m quite proud to have set-up semi passive income streams that are constantly bringing in good cash flow. Of course, we have a stable internet marketing income and mostly I have mine from Adsense.
We were quite hard-up with money when I was a child, and I guess poverty forced me to be really creative so now I do a lot of creative work in graphic designs and video editing. I have this team of artists and we do a lot of collaborations for creative design projects for clients. Which is also one good stream of income.
I also have speaking engagements on personal excellence and leadership training of which I carry my program the “Excellence Blueprint”. It’s a really fun and practical module in bringing out ones best in the key aspects of life.
I remember one high school kid who approached me after our “iLead” Training and asked me one of the toughest questions ever, “Sir, what you’re teaching us is so great, why are they not teaching this in our school?”
For the past months, our team, The Business Incubators has seen quite some action as we organized great wealth seminars by bringing top speakers from Manila here in Cebu, the likes of John Calub (Money Magnet), James Fantones (E-myth Guru), and Bo Sanchez (The Truly Rich). And right now, all eyes are on the Money Summit and Wealth Expo this coming September 30-October 1.
Luckily, we won’t be staying in the backstage or in the registration area this time, we’ll be on stage with the rest of the 12 Speakers and we’ll talk about building massive and passive income!
And of course, my favorite! I’m one of the team leaders of Radical Millonaire. Just this year we started on this great team based business and the product is empowerment to people through technology. And I’ve been helping a lot of my members earning thousands a day. And right now, as I’m typing this, I too am earning! (You can click here for more info)
Sha: Any tips you could give to those who are contemplating to resign?
Hanz: I won’t be giving any tips – but let me tell you one important thing before you resign.
Being unemployed you will have to face this certain “thing”. And this certain “thing can be your best friend to make you truly successful and also this thing can be your worst nightmare. This “thing” is yourself.
Master yourself first before you resign!
Why am I saying all these?
Right after my resignation it wasn’t an easy trip to where I am now.
I messed up a lot.
How did I do it?
Well, I have good news for you! I have them all in one ebook – “How To Quit Your Job in 10 Days” Now with bonus chapters! You can grab a FREE copy at hanzflorentino.com.
Sha: What books do you read? Who do you consider as mentors?
Hanz: The Business Incubators have an arsenal of books from millionaire mindset, to internet marketing, self-development, leadership and even puppy training.
And I always have coffee sessions with my mentors – online and paper back mentors – Jim Rohn, Robin Sharma, John Maxwell, Zig Ziglar, Bo Sanchez, Seth Godin, and Joe Vitale.
Sha: Any words of inspiration for our readers?
Hanz: I always believe that great battles are won in the mind. How we see the world depends on each and everything that is being programmed in the mind.
For example, I would always tell people that if they believe that money comes only in the 15th and 30th of the month, then those are the only days that money comes in. However, if you begin to believe that money can come everyday and anytime – then boom.
That’s why I’m very much thankful for people like, my dear friend, Sha and her campaign of empowering people thru self-education with SeminarPhilippines.Com. Going out there, opening one’s mind, grabbing a book and joining seminars, is by far the most practical step in how each by each we can re-program the mind and install anti-virus and success software!
They did it, we are doing, and why can’t you?
See you at the top!
There you have it. I believe that Hanz Florentino will soon achieve his goal of inspiring not just 10,000 lives but perhaps more than a million lives before he reaches the age of 30.

just an opinion,

Hi Michael,
Thanks for your note. 🙂
I associated Hanz with Bill Gates because they both made the bold move of living their comfort zones to pursue their passion. And like Bill Gates who has touched many lives, I believe that Hanz is on his way to inspire the world as well.
I respect your opinion. Yes, Bill Gates is Bill Gates in the same way that Hanz is Hanz and you are Michael. Each of us is unique and each of us is capable of making positive difference in the lives of others in our own unique ways.
Cheers,
Sha

correction:
should be “leaving” their comfort zones

Hello Sha!
I chanced upon your site while browsing through inspirational items. We just lost some significant pension money because of the Prudentialife fiasco and I needed to get over it. Its been a while since I attended John Calub’s seminars and accidentally opened my Iphone with his voice recording last 2010 still intact. Now I am in China working for the International SOS and has been enjoying passive income while me and my husband are still both working abroad. I made a big decision to write down a goal within the next five years to help inspire our people to keep on reinventing and preparing ourselves to be bigger than ourselves and I connected well with Hanz. I am working with a medical team to design programs to improve health and reverse aging. I’m a doctor and I have now the time and interest (passion as Hanz called it) to cultivate that aspect. Hope to contact you, your group and get your books when I arrive in March. I am the chairman of the scientific committee of the 34th Annual Convention of the Phil. College of Occupational medicine and I will be giving a talk on March 17. Hope to have enough time to prepare my talk to include your tips and messages as well. God Bless and more power….
