How to Succeed as an Entrepreneur: An Interview with Dean Pax Lapid
I feel so blessed to have a one-on-one meeting with one of the most sought after speakers on entrepreneurship, the dean himself, DEAN PAX LAPID!
I’ve seen him speak on stage several times. It’s so refreshing when you actually get to talk to him up close.
He’s a guy who wears many hats — an ENTREPRENEUR (he’s a founder/owner of several businesses which include a gas station, a farm, an IT and HR resource provider, and several other businesses), an EDUCATOR ( a former Dean of Entrepreneurship Program at Entrepreneurs School of Asia and a former Adjunct Faculty at AIM), an ENTREPRENEUR ADVOCATE (Mentor at Go Negosyo and Bo Sanchez’s Truly Rich Club), a National BEST-SELLING AUTHOR of three books, and a HAPPY FAMILY MAN.
Despite his super busy schedule and his celebrity status, he was so generous and kind enough to accommodate an interview with me.

To say that I learned a lot from our two-hour conversation is an understatement!
A Man of Integrity
Dean Pax says what he means and means what he says.
I first heard him talk during Bo Sanchez’s Kerygma Conference 2012. He was so inspiring and so I decided to interview him and share the interview with the Seminar Philippines community.
I was able to talk to him up close during Bo Sanchez’s Best-Selling Authors Bootcamp where both of us were speakers. The Dean gave me his business card and told me he’d be happy to accommodate the interview.
When I arrived in his office in Ortigas at 9:00am last September 27, I saw papers and cheques he needed to sign. It was a busy day for him. After all, he’s the CEO and Founder of several big companies. But the moment I walked inside his office, he dropped whatever he was doing and started chatting with me right away.
He honored our appointment. He didn’t keep me waiting, though I would have understood knowing how busy he is.
A Man of Action
I was amazed at how fast he acts on his ideas. He shared with me a business idea that was conceptualized around August of this year (2013). In just a few weeks, the business became a reality.
His character, expertise, and bias for action are some of the reasons why a lot of entrepreneurs want to do business with the Dean. One thing the Dean always asks them is to present their 2-3 pages business plan. At a glance, the Dean would be able to know whether the business is sound and feasible. He would also challenge these people to act on their ideas right away.
A Man Who Keeps Learning and Growing
Dean Pax Lapid is already very, very successful in his chosen fields but he keeps going back to school. He finished his Masters in Entrepreneurship from Asian Institute of Management (AIM).
Currently, he is taking up his Ph.D. in Organizational Development in the Southeast Asia Interdisciplinary Development Institute. He never stops learning!
He is also very passionate in sharing his wisdom through books. So far, he has written and published three books, all of which are National Best-Sellers!

Dean Pax Lapid’s Story
Dean Pax is one of the wealthiest, happiest, and most generous persons I’ve met. But do you know that Dean Pax was not born to a rich family?
He learned to step up at the young age of 11 when his father passed away. He helped his mother in their fresh meat stall in Quiapo. While in school, he learned how to be entrepreneurial by supplying his classmates with school supplies, sporting goods, etc.
Dean was also a diligent and intelligent student. He graduated as the class valedictorian in elementary and with honors in high school. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in the University of the Philippines (which, I think, is the top university in the Philippines 🙂 ).
Before Dean Pax became a successful entrepreneur, he used to work in San Miguel and Shell, respectively, for a total of 24 years!
Today, Dean Pax owns several big businesses like Southwest Professional Advantage Corporation (an IT company), St. Mellion Farms, Power Gas (Retail Station-Tarlac), and many more!

Dean’s Bucket List (The Dean’s Wishes)
I asked Dean what else he would like to accomplish in life. He shared with me his wishes which he also wrote in his Novena to God’s Love.
To guide and mentor my family for them to be successful in their respective endeavors, so they may enjoy family bonding and a comfortable lifestyle;
To be mentally and physically fit, such that I’m able to contribute my time, talent, and treasure and be a significant blessing to my family, friends, and community;
To be financially stable with a diverse range of businesses and a net worth or be involved in a one-billion-peso company by the time I pass away, so that I can create and take advantage of opportunities for myself, family, business partners & the Filipino people;
To be spiritually grounded with my feet, values, and personal relationship with God, so that I become a living example of an efficient professional; to have kept my faith, finish the race and meet my Lord as I receive my crowning glory;
To leave a legacy in the form of a nationwide movement or company to prosper others in their spiritual maturity and financial literacy, so that any nation will be awed to see and meet a Filipino;
To guide, mentor and teach others in their quest for success, especially in entrepreneurship so that they may prosper themselves, their families, and eventually prosper others especially the underprivileged;
To be remembered as Dean Pax – a loving son, a caring father and husband, an inspiring mentor, a balanced entrepreneur, and a child of God.
Today, October 10, is a very special day for Dean Pax Lapid. It’s his birthday! 🙂
I thank God for people like Dean Pax. They are blessing and inspiring the world through their gifts.
DEAN PAX LAPID, one of the happiest, wealthiest, and most generous persons I’ve met, HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Hi I am so inspired to be like the Dean. Not Imitating what he did but Imitating his Character and Determination in accomplishing his goals in his life. I can relate with his life story since I also grew up in poverty and struggles. But I believe made me a better person as today. Going back to the Dean he got great Character that can never be shaken and Wisdom that is incomparable accompanied with such humility. great spirit. thanks and more power.
P.S. I would like to ask help with my book I would like to learn more how will I be able to present it with simplicity and pride. thanks again.
