Whatever your profession or business is, one of the most important assets you need is an EMAIL LIST. Why email list?

 

 

Last July 10-16, 2017, I conducted an ONLINE SALE for my books.

 

Let me share with you our marketing strategies:

1. Shoot a video, have the video edited, and post the video on FB. Boost through FB ads.

2. Create FB posters and post on FB.

3. Send emails through Convertkit.

4. Personally send messages to my friends via FB. 

Numbers 1 & 2 required the most effort & time. I had to write and re-write my script for the video. I had to face the video camera and speak. Then I asked Jem to edit the video. The video was only about 2 minutes long but it took almost the entire day to edit it. Plus, we spent on FB ads.

Strategy 4 – Some friends ordered. Some seen zoned me. 😀

Strategy 3 — Send emails through Convertkit — was the most effective!

 

Here’s the RESULTS:

80% of the SALES came from the emails I sent through Convertkit.

12% of the SALES came from my personal messages to my friends.

Only 8% of the SALES came from FB — and that included the video, the posters, and the FB ads.

 

According to McKinsey and Company, email is 40 times more effective than Facebook and Twitter.

 

You know why email was more effective? Here are three reasons why,

1. EMAILS are more personal. You received email in your inbox. It felt more personal especially since I addressed most of the recipients by their first names. 

 

2. EMAIL is a more direct way of communicating with people. Plus, there are less distractions compared to FB. If you’re reading my email in your inbox, you are not distracted by the newsfeed and ads, the way you would be distracted if you are on FB.

3. EMAIL allowed me to build relationship with the recipients. I didn’t just email them and say, “Hi! Buy my books! They’re on SALE!” Nope. What I did was, I created an email sequence, a storyline within the one-week sale that allowed me to understand their needs and address their needs through the BOOK SALE.

 

And then, I auto-scheduled the emails. Thus, even if I was in the province vacationing with my family, the emails would automatically be sent to the recipients. In fact, some of the emails were sent while I was still asleep or while I was playing with my 5-year old and 7 year-old siblings.

 

There’s a study that some people would only buy when they saw your product or your pitch at least 7 times. Thus, you can create an email sequence that contains 7-9 emails.
