Have you been working so hard for years, yet, you don’t understand where your money went?

Do you want to overcome your debts, save, and invest, but you don’t know where to start?

Do you want to pursue your real passion but you can’t leave your job because it’s your only bread and butter?

I can relate with you.

Hi, I’m Sha Nacino.

I was a struggling employee for 9 years! In my first year as an employee, I got buried in credit card debts. There were days when I couldn’t focus at work because I was worried where to get money to pay for my credit card bills.

I wanted to resign but I couldn’t. One, I had zero savings and I had humongous debt! Two, I didn’t know what to do in case I resign. I didn’t know my passions. I didn’t know what would make me happy. I was broke and lost. You could just imagine the stress I was experiencing.

There were days when I didn’t even have enough money to buy myself a decent lunch.

I can still remember that particular day as if it happened just yesterday. It was almost lunch time, I only had Php50 in my wallet and my salary will arrive in three days. That was all the money I had!

I was hungry but I was ashamed to borrow money from my colleagues. I phoned my father who’s based in the province, some 12 hours away from Manila.

“Pa, can I borrow Php1,000?”

In less than an hour, my Papa sent me the money via LBC. He wanted to increase the amount but I assured him that Php1,000 would be fine.

From my office in Ayala Avenue, I walked all the way to Buendia with my pencil cut skirt, a nice top, and high heels. I had to traverse the stretch of Buendia to locate LBC and get my Php1,000. I had no umbrella and the heat of the sun melted my make-up. I felt like a foolish clown who was on the verge of crying. Had there been cameras around, the scene would have been perfect for a funny, melodramatic music video.

My physical hunger and my aching feet were nothing compared to what I felt inside. I felt stripped off my dignity, walking kilometers on a hungry stomach just to get my Php1,000 — and it’s all because I didn’t know how to manage my money!

Search for Solution

I was desperate to improve my finances. I started to read financial management books. Prior to this, I was not really fond of reading books. In fact, my original course in college was Public Administration but I shifted to Business Economics because I dreaded the articles and books we were required to read in Public Administration.

I read Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. I felt Robert Kiyosaki was really talking to me. He introduced to me the concept of passive income and financial freedom. He made me hunger to keep learning.

Robert Kiyosaki’s book is great. I began to wonder, will the concepts he is teaching also work in the Philippine setting? The answer came when I chanced upon the bestselling book Think Rich, Pinoy! written by Dr. Larry Gamboa. I got to know Dr. Larry Gamboa through one of the books of Bro. Bo Sanchez.

I was learning a lot. Not only did I read books. I attended financial management seminars almost every month!

Slowly, inch by inch, my finances began to improve. My mindset on money changed.

Financial Education Changed My Life

After three years of reading financial management books, attending financial management seminars, and talking to people who are successful in their finances, I was able to zero out my credit card debts! I couldn’t have been happier. I felt as if a big, heavy boulder was lifted off my shoulder.

I started to save. I started to invest in mutual funds and in the stock market.

After a year of investing in the stock market, I was able to make my dreaming of touring Europe come true!!!

After 9 years of working in a bank, I quit my job so I can pursue my passion in writing and public speaking full time.

Today, I write books, I give talks and I teach people how to write books through The 90-Day Book Writing Challenge.

I also now run my own company and it feels good to be able to provide jobs for other people

What Must We Do?

The first thing we need to do is invest in ourselves, that is, to invest in our financial education.

Money was never really taught in school. Good thing there are books and seminars that teach us about money.

We need to equip ourselves with the right money mindset. We need to get accustomed to the healthy money habits. We need to learn how to manage our money so we can turn our dreams into reality.

We need to train our eyes to spot the opportunities to make more money.

We need to train our minds to be smart in seizing these opportunities and making the best out of them.

We need to train our hearts to understand the ultimate purpose of money — that money is just a means towards a higher goal — that goal is love.

We need to train our hearts not to be consumed by greed because that will lead to emptiness and sadness.

You see, money is not the goal. Money is just a means to your higher goal. Higher goal could be spending more time with your family, traveling the world, pursuing your real passion without worrying over money. Your goals may be different from mine. That’s okay because our goals are intimate to us. Our goals are personal.

No matter what your higher goals are, this seminar could help you go from where you are now to where you want to go.

100% of the net proceeds from the Money&Me conference-for-a cause will go to the medication of Baby Kier. Baby Kier is the son of my high school classmate Dinkie.

“Baby Kier was diagnosed with a Retinoblastoma (Rb) when he was 2 months old. This rare disease is a form of cancer that rapidly develops from the immature cells of a retina, the light-detecting tissue of the eye, and it is the most common malignant cancer of the eye in children. And it is almost exclusively found in young children.

Last January 2017, Baby Kier underwent Enucleation to remove his left eye that caused him to be a one-eyed baby. Unexpectedly, cancer has already spread to his right eye and very advisable by his doctors to undergo Chemotherapy every after 21 days for 6cycles and a checkup for the rest of his life.”
