What to Do when Your Dreams are Bigger than Your Resources

“What do you do when your dreams are bigger than your resources?”

Option 1: Adjust your dreams to match your resources.

Option 2: Adjust your resources to match your dreams.

Bo Sanchez posed this question during his talk last Sunday at The Feast PICC.

The house was divided. The majority chose Option number 2.

Here’s Bo’s answer:

It depends. You need to discern. The deciding factor is this: Know where your dreams are coming from — Pride or Purpose.

He shared his personal stories on how he adjusted his dreams in order to match his resources. Instead of buying a Php20M house, he re-modeled his 80 sqm property and spent only about Php1M. Instead of buying a brand new luxury car worth Php8M to satisfy his desire to have a smooth ride, he bought a second hand luxury car and it only cost him Php600K.

God supplies for our needs and some of our silly wants. He’s generous. He loves us. – Bo Sanchez

When it came to dreams attached to his purpose, he adjusted his resources to match his dreams.

He used to lead the Feast in Valle Verde and they would spend Php75,000 every Sunday for the rental fee. When the number of Feast attendees started growing, they rented PICC where the rental fee every Sunday is Php250,000. Not only that, they retained the Feast in Valle Verde and they even built other feasts in Makati, Alabang, Bulacan, and all over the Philippines.

Bo Sanchez also founded 10 ministries for the poorest of the poor where they spend at least a million pesos every month.

He adjusted his resources to match his dreams of reaching out and serving as many people as he can.

You have two supply rooms — Yours and God’s. Your supply room is limited. God’s supply room is limitless. Yours is adequate. God’s is abundant. – Bo Sanchez

    Hi Sha,
    Thanks for sharing this.
I’ve often thought that it must be the resources that we always need to adjust so our dreams will be achieved.
Now I learned that there are dreams that emanated from or are sustained by pride, so therefore it should be the dreams that need adjustment.
This is a great wisdom. Thanks for sharing Bo’s message.
    /Ron/
