Where to? (A Funny and Insightful Anecdote)

One fine Saturday, I was heading towards Villamor Airbase to watch a Toastmasters speech contest. I called up my friend and he advised me to take Edsa then turn left to Mckinley Road, turn right to 5th Avenue, then turn right to the road leading to Villamor Airbase. I was driving by myself.

I followed his instructions, or so I thought. After turning to the road that was supposed to take me to Villamor Airbase, the road led me back to Edsa Northbound.

I laughed at my mistake. “Okay, fine. I must have taken the wrong turn. After all, there were four confusing roads leading to Villamor Airbase” I calmed myself. I tried again, took the Mckinley Road, turned right to 5th Avenue, but again, I found myself in Edsa Northbound! I can’t believe I made the same mistake the second time around.

“Okay, one last try,” I told myself. After more than an hour, I was in the same road leading to Edsa Northbound. Gosh! I made the same mistake thrice! At this point, I was already anxious and feeling a bit foolish. I also somehow ran out of time, gas, and patience.

I have admitted a long time ago that I am poor with directions. There was a time when I got lost inside Glorietta Mall in Makati City and my friend had to fetch me because I couldn’t find my way out. Not only that, I’ve also forgotten where I parked my car (whether at the 3rd floor of a mall or in Tower 1 of a building) –not   just once – but at least five times! But that’s another story. 🙂

Good thing I know my direction in life. I know my dreams.

Dreams give us direction

If we don’t know where we’re heading, we might be wasting our time and efforts doing something that won’t lead us to our target destination. And before we knew it, there might not be enough time to take the right turns.

It’s important to know where we want to go (our dreams) and how to get there.

Do you dream of getting your own house or car?

Do you dream of providing the best lifestyle for your family?

Do you dream of retiring a millionaire?

Take the necessary steps towards your dreams, one step at a time.
