Don’t Become Obsolete!

A few months ago, my friend Chris Dao Anis invited me to speak at his Growth Summit in Baguio City. I checked my calendar and I realized the date fell on July 14, the original date of my Speak to Inspire: Public Speaking Workshop. Since that time, I haven’t made any announcements yet about my upcoming workshop, I decided to say yes to my friend’s invitation and move my Speak to Inspire to July 28.

.

.

I went to Baguio and gave two talks: Career Trends and How to be a Highly Paid Corporate Speaker.

.

.

I’m very happy with the decision. Chris did a great job organizing the Growth Summit in Baguio City. Happy to share the stage with my brother March, my best friend Trix, and my friend Neb. My friend/my brother’s girl friend Donna was so supportive. She manned the book table and all the books I brought were sold out in the middle of the day!

.

.

In this post, I’d like to highlight two things:

.

.

1. Choose friendship over business, relationship over money.

I thank my mentor Bro. Bo Sanchez for teaching me how to reach for my dreams while at the same time prioritize people over money, friendship over business. Chris is my friend and we support each other. I didn’t mind rescheduling my event to support his event.

.

.

2. Innovate so you won’t become obsolete.

In my talk in Baguio on Career Trends, I shared how fast our world is changing. During my parents’ younger days, the only work opportunities available for them in our town was to become a teacher.

.

.

Years later, new work opportunities emerged — engineer, nurse, doctor, etc.

.

.

When the internet came, we now have virtual assistants, social media managers, FB ads managers, chat bot experts, and so on.

.

.

These days, the technology is so advanced that if you don’t keep on learning and innovating, your jobs or business products/services can become obsolete and can be replaced by technology.

.

.

For instance, do know that Google Assistant or Siri can now schedule calls, meetings, book events, and so on? Imagine what jobs can Google Assistant replace.

.

.

Here’s an interesting video on Google Assistant.

.

.

Here’s where it gets more interesting. I’m no exception. Even my career as a speaker and trainer can become obsolete if I don’t innovate! Do you know that today, there is now a robot who is also a keynote speaker? Her name is Sophia. Here’s a video of Sophia

.

.

You can either see technology as a foe or a friend. I choose to see technology as a friend. Use technology to serve and give value to others. Don’t become obsolete. Keep learning. Keep growing.

.

.

That’s it for today!

.

.

Have a great day ahead!

.

.

I wish you success and happiness!
